WHY LEADERSHIP

The World We Live In

We are in a period of rapid change and radical transformation that has never occurred in all of human history. The current scientific and technological advancements especially in AI and Automation have dramatically bent the arc of history, fundamentally changing the global landscape.

The world has entered a new age that is redefining everything we know and disruptive in nature with unprecedented speed. It will disrupt economies and societies faster than those economies and societies can adjust, potentially creating more chaos and turmoil which might limit their capacity to grasp available opportunities. This is only the beginning.

The most pressing challenge facing any government or corporation today is the capacity to adapt to the constantly changing external pressures. They need to adapt by experimenting new ways of working with a New Kind of Operating Model.

What forms of leadership does the world need in this era?

Learning leadership is one of the most powerful moves you can make to transform your life and your organization. Leadership isn’t just for your career – it’s good for your organization, team and can also improve your relationships with yourself and others. Let us reflect; Would you take a flying lesson with an untrained pilot? of course you wouldn't but its allowed with leadership development..! We don’t invest enough resources in leadership development. The world is witnessing a global decline in the level of trust in leaders, there is a leadership shortage in the world.

ADAPTIVE LEADERSHIP FRAMEWORK

The challenge of adaptation is at the heart of much of the lack of success of leadership initiatives. This is why Ghaleb has been passionate about Harvard’s popular “Adaptive Leadership” framework developed by Prof. Ron Heifetz and Prof. Marty Linsky. Adaptive Leadership framework is based on 40+ years of research, development and practice at Harvard Kennedy School.

It comprises a set of tools and techniques for moving organizations, communities and teams beyond the status quo when “the way things are done currently” is no longer fit for purpose.

Adaptive Leadership is a practical leadership framework with purposeful evolution in real-time that helps individuals and organizations adapt and thrive in challenging environments. It is the framework you need to diagnose, interrupt, and innovate to create the capabilities to challenge the status quo and match your future aspirations.

Maintaining the Status Quo is the breeding ground for mediocracy. When you are on top of your game, change your game. The good enough environment can never be good enough when you strive to be the best. Leadership is about your willingness to experiment ways to move away from the good enough environment.

Challenging the Status Quo requires that you see what of your “DNA” needs to be preserved for the future and what needs to be left behind so that you can adapt and create space for innovation. Adaptation is not a reaction but a systematic series of adaptive processes and actions.

Adaptive Leadership Framework provides a disciplined approach to do more for what you care most about.

MY LEADERSHIP APPROACH

Layer 696.png
We all have the capacity to exercise leadership but prevailing myths and assumptions about it stands in the way. Leadership is neither a trait or gene we are born with nor reserved for those with special talent. This prevailing myth and assumption about leadership is far more powerful deterrent to its development than anything else we know.

Another myth about leadership is that people tend to confuse and conflate leadership with authority. Many people believe that leadership is a rank or a title or a position you hold. The tragic consequences of this believe is that it prevents too many people from answering the call or even trying. Leading is about the actions you take, not the position you hold, it is about what you do not the place where you do it from. Leadership is a purpose-driven activity that is available to anyone to exercise.

Every student of history knows and wrote about so many extraordinary world-changing moments that were led by ordinary people without a title or rank.

To name few:

The world is in desperate need of such courageous people, believe in themselves, aspire to do extraordinary things and willing to take the responsibility for creating the future by driving change rather than being driven by it.
